This is the last gift that my grandfather Boško gave to my grandmother Biserka for their 61st anniversary.
I asked her once: “grandma, were you with anyone before you met grandpa? She laughed so much that tears filled her eyes.
- “Of course I was Jovana.”
- “and after,”, I continued, “when you were with grandpa, did someone strike your fancy?”
- In earnest she replied. “No, for me, your grandfather was always the most beautiful.”
They held hands when they slept, until he got too sick and they had to sleep in separate beds.
A year after he left, she followed him. They found her with a smile on her face. I’d like to think it’s because they once again held each other by the hand.
