Donor’s note:
My father Velimir Matić (1936 – 2011) loved airplanes and worked on aircraft modelling. Unfortunately, his parents did not support him in his hobby and threw away his models. They wanted their son to study law. My father enrolled in the faculty of law, as per his parent’s wishes, and never set foot in the building after that.
My father won this medal on an aircraft modelling competition. His father* tossed it into the garbage. My grandmother, grandfather’s third wife and dad’s stepmother, took the medal from the garbage and saved it as a memento. A few years before dad passed away, the aircraft modeling world cup took place in Belgrade. Guess who went there!
