Note from donor:
In the summer of 2016 I broke my established vacation model and walked dedicatedly for days, through Galicia, alongside Saint Jacob’s path towards Santiago de Compostela. Sometimes it was up to 25km per day. A memento of this trip is a shell I found and used as a mark to measure entire path to Santiago. More than 100.000 travelers from all around the world commit to this pilgrimage each year.
From my backpack, which held everything I needed, hung this shell. People get to know each other on such a trip as this, ask questions, open their souls and give answers, naturally and spontaneously present the best of themselves and of their country.
Since my father’s death I haven’t been able to cry. When I finally arrived to Santiago de Composetela and saw the faces of pilgrims and heard music playing in front of the cathedral, I experienced catharsis. I cried for hours so I could calm myself. That day, and every other since – I confirm these words: “If you want to meet yourself go to Santiago. The road to Santiago leads to many other cities of this world.”
